Shadow of Night

And so the story of Matthew and Diana continues... And in 16th century England no less :) *spoilers*
We get to meet the likes of Christopher Marlowe, Walter Raleigh,  the queen of England and there's even a couple mentions of Shakespeare himself! 16th century England is definitely an interests place.
The main plot for this story is again the search for Ashmore 782 an old Alchemist text that is said to hold the secrets of how witches, vampires and daemons all exists.
Now 16th century England is probably a hard place to hide a witch (Salam witch trails right around the corner) but you would think it'd be an easy place to hide a book...there's definitely no internet search you can do and the world is a large place after all. But of course Diana and Matthew find it otherwise the story would go no where. Not saying they don't have to work hard to get it, there's a lot of expensive gifts, scheming and in the end steeling going on. But they don't get their hands on it until near the very end by which point they need to go home... To the 21st century before they make too much of a mark on the past. Diana comes away with a wealth of knowledge, she learns she's a weaver, which pretty much means she can weave any spell! Bonus! She gets to know the original Matthew the man who made him who he is today and also meet Philippe his father who finally convinces Matthew to really marry Diana and consummate that marriage, because yes Diana also comes back to the present pregnant. The gift of life between a vampire and witch with no help from the mysterious ashmore 782! We will have to wait and see how that pans out.
Historical romance meets paranormal... I give this book 4* stars!

Shield of Winter - A Psy-changeling Novel

*spoilers*
Nalini Singh is a creative genius... Just saying :)
I love the worlds she creates and I'm always more then willing to delve into her stories head first.
Shield of Winter is no exception. It centres around Vasic, an arrow solider we've seen in several of the previous stories from this world and every time I've asked my self ... What is his story? And especially, who could break his Silence?
The answer is Ivy Jane... An empath (e-Psy) who was shattered by the silence protocol.
This story has really taken us to the next stage of the Psy-changeling world. We've  read about many Psy 'breaking out' and breaking their silence, and now the whole of the Psy populace are allowed to finally feel. Silence has fallen
But the years of repressed emotion has created a deadly virus that is sending the Psy into a violent melt down. People are going crazy, filled with violent emotions and killing anyone in their way. E-Psy are the life line that saves the day; as anyone who is linked/bonded with one is save from the deadly virus. Ivy creates the honeycomb protocol which makes sure everyone is connected to an e-Psy, therefore saving them, but some people still believe in silence and refuse to join.
The question now is... How will these people effect the next stories to come, as they allow the virus to continue and not die. And... Now silence has fallen, what will become of the Psy race?
Ivy and Vasic make a beautiful love story as always, a man with a heart incased in ice, being saved by a woman full of life and emotions that slowly melt away his barriers and allows him to find his worth. They say they want to wait until the world is safe and settled before having children but will that ever happen?
I guess we'll have to read on and see in the next instalments , which I know from reading Nalini's blog, there are plenty more in the future to look forward to!
I give this 5* stars!!!

FIREBORN - A Souls of Fire novel

*spoilers*
Brand new series by the amazing Keri Arthur. I have always loved Arthur's strong female leads, from Riley - the original badass, to Risa and now Emberly - a real life fire cracker! Who just happens to be a Phoenix, a creature I've never read about in a paranormal romance novel before! :p
I'm always sucked into the worlds she creates - controlled chaos as I like to say.
Now I've read from some that they don't like love triangles, and all I have to says is why the hell not!? I'm a huge fan. I love the stress and suspense of finding out who will win the girl and what will come of the loser. Also it is one thing that will create a hell of a lot of sexual tension! Bonus!
Now Fireborn is more of a lust/vital/love triangle as Emberly doesn't love all the men involved and her heart is clearly in one mans hands. Whether she will get that man is yet to be seen. Hello sexual tension!
Now we're only at the beginning of this new world and I can already say it's going to be another fast paced, stress filled and chaos ridden ride! That I know I will love and I'm sure you'll agree!
I give this 4* stars!

Born of Fury - A League Novel

*spoilers* I have always been a huge fan of Sherrilyn Kenyon, from way back when when I started reading the Dark Hunter Series. And as much as I love that series also, nothing can beat her League series for me. I never thought I'd be a huge sci-fi fan but give me space ships and assassins any day of the week!
Born of Fury centres around Hauk our Andarion warrior and Sumi a woman who has been forced into the League for killing her abusive boyfriend.
Hauk must take his nephew Darice on his Endurance, a right of passage all Andarions do to become an adult. What Hauk doesn't know is he's been implanted with a chip that is sending out a signal to all assassins so they can locate him. Sumi is one of the assassins sent to get information to prove he is part of The Sentella group. But instead she is hurt and Hauk helps her recover which results in her falling for him.
Now Hauk is pledged to marry Darices mother. It is Andarion custom that says if a male dies the next male in line marrys his wife. So after Darices father dies, Hauk was pledged to his mum who has refused him at every turn, due to Hauks battle wounds.
Sumi helps kill the many assassins sent for Hauk and Hauk begins to trust her and fall for her also. Even though he knows if he touches another woman he'll be put to death he still sleeps with her. He promises her he'll save her daughter from league custody, as she was taken from Sumi as soon as she was born.
Sumi is welcomed into the Sentella family and everyone helps to locate Kalea her daughter, but things aren't that simple. Sumi must fight Darices mother for the right to marry Hauk. While she goes off to fight we learn that it was Darices mothers lover who planted the chip in Hauk, she also just happens to be the daughter of Hauks doctor and she comes to his home and KILLS HIM! Sumi wins the fight between her and Darices mother and rushes home to be with Hauk. Syn being the amazing doctor he is saves Hauk! Thank god. And Sumi goes back to her assassin ways and kills Pari the doctors daughter who killed Hauk.
They get married Andarion style and adopt Darice as his mother is arrested for her crimes (which are many but you should really read the book to know them all 😜 ;) )
This story is full of awesome battles and a beautiful romance, two things I love.
I give this 5* stars!!!

The Immortal Crown - An Age of X Novel

We are back in the dystopian world of the RUNA. *spoliers*
There is so much happening in this next installment that I don't know where to begin. Mae and Justin are still denying their feelings, Mae because she's embarrassed and stubborn as Justin rejected her and Justin because he doesn't want to become a priest for the god Odin. Drama.
The main plot point throughout this novel is 'Arcadia' - Arcadia is set just outside the RUNA and is controlled by religion. Woman are seen as second class and evil so they are made to do housework like they still live in the days of no electrics or plumbing as 'hard work beats out the evil'. Idiots.
Senator Darling asks Mae and Justin to come with him to Arcadia on a peace mission so he can raise his profile. Justin refuses out right but Mae convinces him to go as she is shown a vision of her missing niece there from the god Freya, who's knife she now has.
Arcadia is pretty much a backwards town of ignorant men following a controlling god. But the trip isn't all bad. Justin meets with the Grand Deciple and figures out his plans to over take the RUNA and Mae finds her niece in a salon full of stolen children from the RUNA, where they sell girls off once they hit puberty. Like I said backwards town.
It all ends well happy days, the senator looks like he saved the RUNA from terrorists and saved all the young girls rejoining them with their family's.
BUT
this is where the happy ends I'm afraid. Throughout all this the gods have been playing games and the war of the elect has started. Both Mae and Justin are elect- powerful humans who can connect with gods. It all goes down hill when Justin finally admits his undying love to Mae and explains in the process why he can't sleep with her. Mae runs off upset, not understanding why he's still denying them. Later on Justin turns up at her place in a lustful rage and they finally have sex again - strange? My thoughts exactly, considering only a couple pages back he was determined not to. When Mae starts talking with 'Justin' she realises it's not him, but before she can question who he is he runs off.
The real Justin comes straight over once he hears what happend and takes Mae to  hospital for a rape kit but they are unable to find the culprits DNA in file. While Justin sleeps Mae makes the decision to leave him so he doesn't have to become a priest for Odin (although he unknowingly already has when he poured out his heart to her). Mae is sent to the front lines as she doesn't want anything to do with Freya anymore as she believes she allowed her to be raped. While there the god Loki approaches her asking her to becomes his Valkyrie and it looks like she might! Now all I know about Loki is from watching Thor and he doesn't come across as a decent god in that 😕.
Now the real crazy happens at the end. We find out who rapped her - Rufus the bodyguard hired to watch Tessa isn't who we think  he is. O no. He's actually an elect with the power to shape shift and guess who he ends up being ... PORFIRIO!!! Mae's ex who tried to rape her in the the first book! Who is also supposed to be dead!
I can not explain my excitement for the next book! If an author doesn't shock her readers she isn't doing her job! Love Richelle Mead!
I give this 4 1/2 * stars!!!

The Shadow Reader: A Shiver of Light

The Shadow Reader: A Shiver of Light

A Shiver of Light

We've waited five whole years for this next installment of the Merry Gentry series and boy it has not disappointed!
*spoilers*
Merry is now EXTREMELY pregnant as in with TRIPLETS!!! Now really we shouldn't act surprised considering the amount of men she sleeps with on a daly basis and she is a fairy princess surrounded by wild and uncontrollable magic after all.
As always there's still enemy's lurking around every corner, those that believe Merry is too short, too round, too seelie , too unseelie, too human etc... She'll pretty much alway be not good enough, even though she's bringing back all the fae magic and helping couples have children. You would think they'd be more grateful!?!?
Merry has two girls and a boy :) happy days. Fathers unknown as we were only expecting two and the smallest daughter exhibits Slaugh, goblin and Demi-fey genetics. She also seems to have a very strong persuasive glamour! Bespelling all her nannies.
King Taranis is also convince he fathered the children when he raped Merry - Creep. He stalks Merry in her dreams as he has gained that ability back and try's to control her with his illusions and a love spell, obviously that doesn't sway her to his side. Merry uses her Hand of Flesh against him and after two attempts she permanently disfigured his arm, which means he can no longer be king! Bonus!
Now all this happens because Merry seeks revenge and justice! Yes, one of her loves is killed. Now don't worry it isnt Doyle - phew! I don't know about you but if Doyle dies I don't think I could ever read another Merry Gentry novel again :( but it is sad because King Taranis orders a hit on King Sholto! Which shatters the readers heart because of the chapters of love and bonding we read before hand between him and Merry 😭.
Now King Taranis has to stay at the Seelie court but is no longer king. Aisling returns and the Seelie court sang with joy at his return, King Aisling of the Seelie Court!
We finally learn the fathers of the children
Alastair - Doyle and Frost
Gwenwyfer - Rhys, Galan and Mistral.
Bryluen - Sholto, Kitto and Royle!
Now the next book will be full of toddler tantrums! Gwenwyfer will start a tropical storm, Bryluen will bespell the household to get her way and Alistair will shapeshift into a snow puppy!
I give this book 4*Stars!!!
